Criticism Swirls Around High-Profile History Book about North Korea
What is this about?
This factual case describes the accusations received by the author of the book 'Tyranny of the Weak', which describes the history of North Korea during the Cold War. The author has been accused of citing either irrelevant or non-existent sources to support the claims he makes in the book. By reading the description of the case, which also reports some statements of the person who brought the case to light, we understand that the latter has come to this accusation after noticing consisting similarities between "Tyranny of the Weak"and his own book on a similar topic.
Why is this important?
Accuracy in referencing is important for at least three reasons: to avoid improper appropriation of others ideas, to allow readers to further research certain topics which might be only briefly touched upon in the text, to embed the text in the relevant literature on the same topic and to support ones claims on scientific evidence which has been peer reviewed by other researchers.
