The rector who resigned after plagiarizing a student’s PhD thesis

What is this about?

A rector allegedly copied whole extracts of a PhD student's thesis. When the case was discovered, an investigation led to severe consequences for him, including his resignation.  

Why is this important?

Sometimes plagiarism involving copying sections from one's PhD may be more difficult to detect, especially if these sections have been translated to another language.
