UKRIO's Good practice in internet-mediated research

What is this about?

Due to huge advancements in digitization over the past decades, internet-mediated research is now an important constituent of scientific research. Therefore, it is important that research institutions and researchers be aware of the pros and cons of this novel research method.

Why is this important?

This document highlights some of the key ethical and regulatory issues in internet research, such as personal data protection, maintaining confidentiality and what constitutes informed consent. While it does not aim to be prescriptive, it intend to encourage further debate and exploration of these challenging areas.
