Edit a module

With this form, you create a step-by-step module on research integrity or ethics. This can be used to provide instruction on a particular topic. You might want to use it for a tutorial, teaching material, case analysis tool, or an educational game.

Every single module is intended for just one type of user. That sets it apart. It might be that you write an instruction for a group session with a facilitator and participants. You would then need to write two pages, one with the steps for facilitators and one with the steps for participants.

Perspective Participant

This training program aims to train trainers to conduct a virtue-based research integrity training. It is composed of online and offline components which are designed to allow for flexibility. The program aims to (further) develop knowledge about relevant concepts of research integrity and to promote the development of didactical skills necessary to foster reflection about motivations to engage in good research practices among trainers in training. The program aims to: 1) promote the development of didactical skills necessary to foster virtue-based reflection about motivations to engage in good research practices among trainees and 2) support and reflect on the adoption of didactical approaches suitable for their work context. Trainers are encouraged to adapt materials in order to make them more suitable for the context in which they will offer their training. This supports contextualised teaching across different countries and disciplines and promotes the internalisation of the practices and principles of the ECoC.

What are the steps?

The training is composed of three elements:

1) online materials and

2) face-to-face meetings (divided into two sessions)

3) practice in one’s own context.

Trainees should invest about 60 hours in total (see below for an overview).

As a trainer you will need to make sure that your trainees get the preparation material in due time and reserve time for the first participatory sessions.

Interactive Content

The overall goal of the first session is to introduce the five exercises which represent the face-to-face/participatory part of the blended learning training and to prepare trainees to practice facilitating the exercises themselves. When planning the first session you:

a. Plan enough time per exercise (minimum 2 h).

As a trainer, you will first facilitate the exercises and let the trainees experience them. Then you will describe and explain the knowledge and competencies needed to facilitate the exercise as a trainer. Make time for pauses between the exercises for trainees to relax and reflect. Depending on the time schedule, it may also be necessary to provide food and drinks (or directions to restaurants or stores nearby).

b. Provide time to explain what trainees are expected to do in between the first and the follow up participatory sessions . You might consider providing opportunities to collectively reflect on how to plan their training practice and whether it would be necessary to adapt the exercises based on the characteristics of the group of participants they will train in their own work setting
