What is this about?

The FOSTER portal is an e-learning platform that brings together training resources targeted at people who want to know more about Open Science, or who need to develop strategies and skills for implementing Open Science practices in their daily workflows. On this platform you will find a collection of training materials for different users - from early-career researchers, to data managers, librarians, research administrators, and graduate schools. In order to meet different needs, the materials are discipline specific and range from basic to more advanced-level resources.

The training activities target all relevant stakeholders in the European Research Area, with a focus on young scientists, academic staff and policy makers. The primary aim is to contribute to a real and lasting shift in the behavior of European researchers to ensure that Open Science becomes the norm.

Why is this important?

While there is increasing agreement around the need to improve OS skills amongst all stakeholders, the adoption of OS approaches needs to be further stimulated and specified within different disciplines. Moreover, practical guidance and training to help researchers learn how to open up their research within a particular domain or research environment is essential and contributes to a sustainable cultural change.
