The initiative recommends scholarly publishers to make their abstracts more visible and easily accessible by depositing them to Crossref, a non-profit open repository that publishers use to register and share Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for their publications.<ref name=":0" /> Through Crossref, research abstracts across disciplines will become easily searchable and machine-readable.<ref name=":1" />
