Introducing concepts and manuals
This material is part of the VIRT2UE train the trainer program and is meant for trainers and trainees involved in the training.
You need to have a background in research (i.e. be employed as researchers) or be a trainer/educator/teacher who has had experience in research in the past. What is this about?
Why is this important?
Complete the readings
To get acquainted with the terminology and concepts used in the training read the following theme pages on The Embassy of Good Science
I. Virtues in research integrity
II. Moral conflict and moral dilemma
III. Values and norms
IV. Dialogue versus debateRead the instruction manuals
During the first face to face session you will experience five group exercises. Read the manuals of the exercises to be prepared on what will come next (see below):
I. Self-declaration approach: a reflection on the varieties of goodness in research
II. Debate and dialogue
III. Virtues and norms
IV. The middle position
V. Dilemma gameFill in the forms
Some of the exercises build up on the experiences of participants. For this reason in preparation for the fist face to face session you are required to reflect on your own experience by filling in the following forms:
I. Self-declaration sheet, (will be sent to you by your trainer)
II. Case reflection form, available here
