What is this about?

This module introduces training materials developed to learn about responsible supervision and mentorship. These are designed to equip researchers and academic professionals with the skills needed to foster ethical and responsible mentoring relationships. By supporting good supervision practices, these materials contribute to the development of a good research environment and responsible practice of research. The materials presented have been developed by EU-funded initiatives namely: INTEGRITY, RID-SSISS, VIRT2UE, and Bridge.

For each set of materials developed by each project the target audience is indicated.

Why is this important?

Training supervisors is essential to ensure effective mentorship, ethical guidance, and the promotion of a positive research culture. Supervisors play a critical role in shaping the professional development of researchers by modeling responsible conduct, providing clear communication, and addressing challenges proactively. Well-trained supervisors are better equipped to foster collaboration, handle conflicts, and guide their mentees in navigating ethical dilemmas, ultimately enhancing the quality and integrity of research outcomes.
1
INTEGRITY

Target audience: doctoral students and early career researches, senior researchers and RERI experts

The INTEGRITY project developed training materials for supervisors to encourage reflection on the ethical challenges that supervision brings about. These consist in an online course (SPOC) and a diner pensant script.

2
RID-SSISS

Target audience: doctoral students and early career researches, senior researchers and RERI experts The RID-SSISS training for academics aims to develop leadership competencies by combining senior academics’ extant knowledge base with RE/RI and new leadership competencies. In addition to the foundational level, and the advanced level, the RID-SSISS project developed a  training for supervisors and leaders (leadership level).

3
VIRT2UE

Target audience: doctoral students and early career researches, senior researchers and RERI experts The VIRT2UE project developed a training module introducing supervision and mentorship practices. This module highlights the relevance of supervision, mentoring, and role-modelling in research environments and provides definitions of roles and their corresponding responsibilities.

4
BRIDGE

Target audience: doctoral students and early career researches, senior researchers and RERI experts The BRIDGE project developed a specific module for supervisors.
